Poaching for ivory has placed enormous pressure on African elephant populations. With few government resources available in Zimbabwe, lodge owners have joined the effort to protect elephants, helping to supply guards with boats and vehicles. They can identify many of the elephants by their individual characteristics and have even given some of them names.
