Traditional Dance and Music Performance

Ulaanbaatar, Mongolia

Music plays an integral part in Mongolian life.  The two stringed horse-head fiddle, or morin khuur, is symbolic of Mongolia and entire symphonies have been performed by the Morin Khuur Ensemble.  Mongolia is also famous for khoomii throat singing which is rooted in traditional animism and imitates the sounds of nature – birds, animals, storms and rivers.
